Meleagris is Greek for guinea fowl; the flower is spotted like a guinea fowl. In English she is called Snake Head; possibly because of the shape of the flower with the delicate stem bending towards the ground. The flower bud lies on the ground and from there it rises and blooms.
A special plant with charming purple bell-shaped flowers with small diamonds that dangle gracefully from a delicate stem and are flanked by elongated narrow leaves. She likes light shade and a soil that retains moisture. In the wild, her seed spreads floating on water. It then takes eight years before it blooms. Fortunately, we have the bulbs for you in the online store and you can enjoy them next year.
